There are different programs out there for CCRN nursing certification. One is the “all credits” program, which requires you to complete all CCRN coursework in order to gain your CCRN license. This is probably the best program for most people, as it provides a full course in CCRN theory and all of the core CCRN tests, but doesn’t give you any opportunity to take a practical test. You also won’t learn any of the other essential knowledge necessary to pass the state exam for CCRN licensing. In this case, how long is CCRN certification good for?
The best way to answer that question is to consider how much experience you have, and how long you’ve been a nurse. If you have a lot of experience (four or more years), you will probably be able to get a CCRN exam for fewer than four years. This is because the exam is basically just another extension of your existing CNA certification. Taking the exam in this timeframe makes sense, especially if you’re really serious about advancing your career.
If you’re like most nurses, though, you don’t have a lot of time. In this case, you may wish to consider taking the test in conjunction with some CNA practice tests that you can purchase online. This will allow you to become familiar with the different questions on the exam before taking it live. Also, practice tests offer a great way to see how well you’ve done when you’re pressed for time-a common scenario for CNAs in the field.
When considering how long CCRN certification is good for, remember that it only becomes valid after one year of practical experience. Once that happens, any further tests-with a few exceptions-are considered elective. Of course, the practical exam must be retaken each year, as it changes with the state regulations.
What does this mean for you? In most states, this means that you’ll need to take the CCRN practical exam one year after your CNA certification, unless you’re an out-of-state student. Keep this in mind when considering getting your certification long before you graduate from your training program. You may find that it isn’t quite enough time, even if you do it all at once. However, if you take the time to learn how long it will take and then plan ahead, it can certainly be more than enough time to get the job done. Your best bet is to talk to a state licensing board or contact a national testing company about how long CCRN certification is.
When looking at how long CCRN certification is good for, there are several other factors to consider, as well. One is cost. While the actual cost of CCRN exams aren’t cheap, you can often get them online for free or very little money out-of-pocket. If you can get CCRN certification without spending any money upfront, that’s even better. However, keep in mind that if you do spend money on CCRN exams or receive credit for them in your state, the cost of certification can change dramatically. If this is the case for you, it might be a good idea to look into signing up for a long term training course instead, rather than taking short time tests.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you should only take the exams once. Once you have finished the training, you can then go out and get certified. This allows you to keep all of the credits you have already earned, which will save money in the long run. If you do not do this, you can end up paying for CCRN certification in the long run because of having to pay for the exam over again.
