The CCRN (Certificate in Critical Care Nursing) is an internationally accepted course that nurses with a registered nursing degree are able to take. After passing a challenging exam, which is usually administered online, CCRN nurses can be certified as a CCRN. In order to be eligible to take the CCRN certification exam, the nursing candidate must pass both the written and clinical examinations. A CCRN course costs around $500, although the cost of the exams is dependent on various factors including the number of credits for each course and the type of course, e.g.
As an added benefit, certified nursing assistants (CNA) who have successfully completed the required CCRN courses will receive an official certificate with their name, certification number and a nursing professional organization affiliation on the certificate. The certificate will serve as proof that the nurse has successfully completed a minimum of 500 hours of CCRN training. The nurse will be able to apply for CCRN certification upon completion of their CCRN course. After certification, the nurse will have gained extra skills by practising at a clinic or health centre.
There are a few differences between CCRN and other nursing certifications. The most important distinction is between a CCRN and a Registered Nurse (RN). The CCRN is designed to train CNAs to provide patient care in hospitals or other facilities. Registered Nurses (RNs) on the other hand, have been trained to administer medical treatments and can do so under the supervision of a doctor.
Many of the skills taught in CCRN training are the same as those taught in a Registered Nurse’s course, although it is highly recommended that certified CNAs complete additional training beyond what is taught in a standard RN program. CCRN graduates who have learned these skills and passed a qualifying exam will have a leg up on the market as compared to Registered Nurses who has not taken this additional training. In addition, a certified CNA can command a higher wage and salary than a registered nurse. Therefore, CCRN certification offers a competitive edge for those who wish to advance in the field of health care.
A few aspects of CCRN certification raise concerns, however. For instance, CCRN graduates may not have the specific training or experience to perform certain tasks in a hospital or other health care facility. There are some states that require their all nurses to be certified in order to serve effectively. CNAs also must be certified by the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education Second Certification (NCLEX-CNS) in order to provide care to patients. This certification is compulsory for CCRN graduates who hope to be employed as a nurse in a long-term care facility. If an individual wishes to enter the nursing field, he or she must successfully pass the NCLEX-CNS certification in order to acquire a nursing license.
With these concerns in mind, a great deal of time is spent choosing the right program for an individual. For instance, an individual interested in becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant may want to consider the training that is necessary in order to qualify for this particular certification. Then again, CNAs may prefer to choose an online training program instead of attending traditional college classes. However, a great number of qualified CCRN graduates have successfully completed a college program while working full-time, thereby ensuring their commitment to their career and enabling them to earn their CNA certification. The majority of these individuals are employed in long-term care facilities, which enables them to acquire not only the clinical skills necessary to provide care to patients, but also the clinical skills required in order to become a CNA.
In order to be able to take the entire CCRN course, individuals need to apply for admission to the program through their state’s nursing board. Individuals can also choose to enroll in distance learning programs if they do not have time to meet with the admissions office. Once accepted into a CCRN training program, individuals will then need to complete the clinical part of the training course. Students will need to complete clinical study in one of three areas: adult day health care; neonatology; or a critical care unit, depending upon the degree program that they decided to participate in.
